What is free, at a glance
Most “free PSLE practice” online is either a PDF with no answers or a trial that runs out. We wanted something different for the parents who read these guides: real practice that marks itself, explains every mistake, and stays free.
Here is everything your child can use without paying. All of it is written by our tutors in the style of the current PSLE English format.

Paper 2, section by section
Paper 2 (Language Use and Comprehension) is the biggest paper in PSLE English. Our app now covers six of its sections. Each session is short, so it fits into a weeknight.

| Section | One session | What your child does |
|---|---|---|
| Grammar | 10 questions | Multiple choice: tenses, agreement, prepositions, connectors and more |
| Vocabulary | 10 questions | Multiple choice: choose the word that fits the meaning of the sentence |
| Grammar Cloze | 1 passage | Fill each blank from a word box; each word can be used only once |
| Editing | 1 passage | Correct the underlined spelling and grammar errors |
| Vocabulary Cloze | 1 passage | Write a suitable word in each blank, with no options given |
| Synthesis & Transformation | 5 sentences | Combine or rewrite sentences, starting with the words given (P5 and P6) |
Across the three levels there are more than 6,000 Grammar, Vocabulary and Synthesis questions and 180 passages, so your child is unlikely to see the same question twice for a long time.
The new passage sections
Grammar Cloze, Editing and Vocabulary Cloze are the newest sections. They work like the exam: your child reads a whole passage and fills every gap, so the clue to an answer is often in another sentence.

How it is marked
The moment your child submits, the passage comes back marked. Correct answers are green. A wrong answer is crossed out, with the right one beside it, and the review explains why in one line.

Spelling counts, as in the exam. In Editing, Vocabulary Cloze and Synthesis, a misspelt answer is marked wrong. The app does not check capital letters in the passage sections, so remind your child that the PSLE does: a sentence must start with a capital.
A full Listening paper, free
One complete Listening Comprehension set is free with an account, and your child can redo it as often as they like. It has six recordings and 20 multiple-choice questions with three options each. Like the PSLE, each recording can be played at most twice, so the habit of listening properly the first time is built in. After submitting, every question shows the correct answer and an explanation.

Want to try before signing up? Our Listening practice page has three recordings from the app, with nine questions, answers and explanations, right here on the blog.
Oral practice with feedback
Each Oral practice is one topic, done the way the exam does it: your child reads a passage aloud for its given situation, then answers questions about a photograph. The app listens to the recording and gives a mark out of 15 for Reading Aloud and out of 25 for the conversation, with written feedback and a model answer to compare.
The first practice needs no sign-up. A free account adds two more. That is enough to find out where your child stands, and which of the two parts of the Oral needs the most work.

A weekly routine that uses only the free parts
20 minutes, four nights a week
Little and often beats a long Sunday session
- MonOne Grammar session (10 questions). Copy any mistake and its reason into an error log.
- TueOne passage: Grammar Cloze, Editing or Vocabulary Cloze, in turn each week.
- ThuOne Synthesis session (5 sentences) and one Vocabulary session.
- SatRedo last week’s weakest section. Once a month, redo the free Listening set and compare the score.
Keep the error log short: the question, the right answer and the reason, in your child’s own words. Reading it back before the next session is where most of the improvement comes from.
More free practice on this site
Alongside the app, these guides are practice in themselves, with answers you can reveal and mark:
- 40 Synthesis and Transformation questions with answers, in four sets of ten
- 12 difficult Synthesis patterns, with a question to try on each
- A Listening Comprehension sample with real audio and the two-play rule
- 30 Oral conversation questions by theme, with model answers
- Five Reading Aloud passages with marked-up versions and a record-yourself tool
Questions parents ask
Is it really free, or a free trial that ends?
Paper 2 practice, the free Listening set, and your child’s XP, level and avatar stay free on every plan, whether or not you ever pay. The Oral practices are limited to three free ones: one without an account and two more with a free account. No card is needed to sign up.
Which levels are covered?
Paper 2 has P4, P5 and P6 levels. P4 has five sections; Synthesis & Transformation starts at P5, so P5 and P6 have all six. The Listening sets are written at PSLE (P6) standard, and the Oral practice follows the PSLE format, so they suit P5 and P6 pupils best.
Are these real PSLE questions?
No. Every question, passage and recording is written by our tutors in the style of the current PSLE format. We do not reproduce SEAB exam papers.
How is Paper 2 marked?
Automatically and straight away. Multiple-choice and word-box answers must match the correct option. Written answers (Editing, Vocabulary Cloze and Synthesis) must match an accepted answer, and spelling counts. Where more than one answer is correct, the app accepts each of them.
What does full access add?
More Oral topics with feedback, the timed Mock Oral in exam format, the other Listening sets and the Mock Listening papers. You do not need any of it to use the free parts.
